Welcome to the Back 40rty

My dad used to tell me stories about growing up in rural Wisconsin and playing in the “back forty.” It sounded mysterious and magical. Secret forts. Hideouts. Games. Mischief. The back forty was reference to a big field and forest where he and his brothers stirred up shenanigans behind my grandpa’s used car lot. Sometimes even a family pet was buried there. If I got out of line (not me!) when I was little, my dad would joke that I’d better watch out, or he’d take me to the “back forty.” 

As I’ve gone through life, gaining wisdom through experiences and failures, the”back forty” has emerged with a new meaning. What have I learned in the first half of my life that can applied to the second half? How will things change? Maybe this is what makes the back half of life so sweet.

So here I am. It’s my turn to explore the Back 40rty. 

This blog will talk about entrepreneur life, tips and tricks for motivation and process, general thoughts about independent business, and of course, design. We’ve all taken different paths to get to this moment. We’re given our experiences to help others going through the same thing at a different point in time. Who better to understand the struggles of an entrepreneur, a creative one at that, than another who is further down the road?
